Panthers Roseto lost to Basket Centro Abruzzo 83-68
Panthers Roseto suffered the tenth defeat of the season, the straight third in 09-10
season against Basket Centro Abruzzo Sulmona, losing, only in the last quarter,
a 3-quarters balanced game.
Even if the start of the game, the second of the 7-games round called “Fase ad Orologio”, was very bad for “Panthers” giving up a 7-0 lead to the home team in the first minute of the game, then recovered increasing defensive pressure until the tie at 24-24 at the end of the first quarter thanks to 14 points from guards’ duo Pacioni-Giannitto.
Executing better the offensive plays, home team tried to take advantage of the game getting the lead 41-34 at 16’ and keeping it at the halftime within 8 points, 51-43.
Third quarter saw great defense of the Panthers, allowing only 5 points to the adversars, which could let them to cut the deficit to just one point, 56-55, but, after a 6-points deficit at 33’, Panthers Roseto couldn’t respond to a quick 16-2 run, capped by “fast-breaks” of Bonasia, scoring 20 points only in the last quarter, and they were able to reduce the gap to the final score of 68-83.
Panthers were led by 21 points of captain Chiara Giannitto, shooting 2/3 in 3FG, and 16 from center Clara Marcone, adding 8 rebounds, while the whole team shot 39.3% in 2FG and converted 11 of 26 attempts at the FT line (42.3%).
Another “road trip” will be on the Panthers facing New Aurora Pescara, Serie B (fourth Italian Female League) leader, at the PalaElettra in Pescara at March the 20th 19pm.
